About Grimley Reserve

Grimley Nature Reserve, located near the village of Grimley in Worcestershire encompasses a series of former gravel and brick pits that have been transformed into vital wetland habitats. Notable among these are the Camp Lane Pits and Church Farm Pits, both of which are renowned for their rich biodiversity and appeal to birdwatchers.

Camp Lane Pits, situated south of Grimley village offer a variety of habitats including open water, reed beds, and surrounding grasslands. This diversity supports numerous bird species, such as Sand Martins, Cormorants, Little Egrets, and occasionally rare visitors.

Church Farm Pits, located northwest of Church Farm, consist of wetland areas that attract a variety of birdlife. Birdwatchers have reported sightings of species like Redpolls, Great Spotted Woodpeckers, and Egyptian Geese. The site's proximity to the River Severn enhances its ecological value, providing additional habitats for wildlife.

The reserve features footpaths around the pools, offering visitors the opportunity to explore the wetlands and observe the diverse flora and fauna.
